Jayawant Library

Jayawant Library of JSPM’s Engineering College was established in 2004. It serves as a resource center for teaching staff, students and research scholars by providing knowledge through both print and digital form. Library intends to incorporate the latest technology & adopt user friendly towards students and faculty. Library is well equipped with a large collection of textbooks, reference books, technical journals, educational DVDs and CDs. It houses sufficient reference and reading material for students and faculty from multiple disciplines. The library follows DDC classification system for books arrangement. The Central Library subscribes national and international journals in print and e-Journals form. The library has a video conferencing facility and NPTEL video courses, Swayam Programme and other E-Learning resources initiated by the Government of India.

The library has Koha Software that supports all in-house operations, Koha is a class Integrated library system with comprehensive functionality including the basic and advanced option. All circulation process is done by barcode. The bibliographic information about the collection is made available through OPAC.

In the modern information based era, the students and faculties require pinpointed, exhaustive and quick information. To fulfill this requirement, we have developed a well-equipped Digital Library with computer of internet connectivity to provide access to electronic resources such as e-journals, e-books, digitized question papers etc. The students and faculties can search, browse, download or print the article from e-journal or a portion from e-book, subject to copyright restrictions.

Responsibilities of Library Committee:

  • Library committee plays a vital role for smooth functioning of the library as well as fulfills the students’ requirements regarding learning aids.
  • This committee examines the procurement of books/Journals/Periodicals/Magazines in the library.
  • Library Committee take initiative in formation of rules and regulation for students and faculty.
  • Committees supervise the allocation & utilization of fund distribution for purchase books and journals in the library.
  • Committee work as an advisory committee for overall development of the library to solve administrative problems.

  • I-card is must for all library members & produce whenever asked by library staff.
  • All students shall sign in Library user register at the entrance of the Library.
  • During college hours students need to take permission from HOD for using reading Hall.
  • Readers should maintain peace in the reading room and should not disturb other student in any way. Students should maintain an atmosphere of dignity, peace and silence within the reading room premises.
  • Keep your cell phone on silent mode to maintain sanctity of Library. Playing & receiving of the mobile in the Library premises is strictly not allowed.
  • Everybody has to deposit the personal belongings at the property counter they are strictly not allowed at the issue counter.
  • The library staff on duty has the right to request a user to leave the library premises if he / she are found to be violating any of the library rules.
  • Eatables are not allowed inside the library.
  • The library will not accept any responsibility for the loss or misplacement of personal belongings.
  • In case of loss books/I-card it should be reported immediately in writing to the Librarian.

  • Library material is your property, please handles it with care.
  • Without Submission, I card & prior permission nobody can use the books & periodicals, in the Library-reading hall.
  • The normal loan period for books is one week. Students can get two books issued at a time for seven days.
  • Fine imposed on borrowers for late return as per library rule. No books or library materials may be taken out of the Library until the loan has been recorded.
  • Unauthorized removal of library materials is an offense.
  • Current issues of journals/magazines, Reference books/materials are to be used only in the Library.
  • IP based E-resources are accessed from any computer lab in Institute campus.
  • Overdue books: Books must be returned by the due date or earlier if recalled by the Librarian. Failure to return a book by the date specified will be treated as an offense.
  • Loss or damage of books: Students should check the books before issuing them. At the time of return if the books are torn or pages are missing, the borrower will responsible for the damage.
  • Loss of books, if any, should be reported to the library immediately and it should be replaced with a new copy of latest edition along with a levy of overdue charges if any.
  • If the book is one of a set or series, the whole set or series has to be replaced.
  • Borrowers have to produce their library card while borrowing library books..Books may be reissued if there is no claim on it.
  • Theses, Reports/dissertations and selected CD’s, reference books are not lent out of the Library. 

  • Computers should be used only for educational purpose.
  • Do not install or uninstall any software in library computers.
  • If any of the computers are not working report the same to the librarian. Do not try to fix it.
  • The e-Resources are licensed for the non-profit educational use of the Institute.
  • Copyrights law governs use of these e-Resources.
  • Systematic downloading, distributing, or retaining substantial portions.
  • Strictly prohibited to download entire journal issue or databases or an entire e-book.

Jayawant Library have large Collection of around 28000+ print books, 33000+ E-books (Proquest Ebrary Package) 60 National/International Print Journals and 8000+ online E-journals for all disciplines. Library provide NPTEL Audio/Video facility. Library have membership of National Digital Library. Also Library have Institutional membership of British Council Library and ARAI Library. Library have collection of extracurricular and competitive examination books such as GATE, TOFEL, and MPSC etc. under JACS (Jayawant Academy of Civil Service).
